Biography:Andrew Wei is a freshman McDermott Scholar at UT Dallas. He joined the Advanced Polymer Research Laboratory in the fall of 2013 as an undergraduate research assistant with a focus on semiconductor adhesives based on shape memory polymers. Andrew is currently majoring in electrical engineering. His other academic interests include physics and programming.
Andrew graduated from Plano East Senior High School in Plano, Texas prior to coming to UT Dallas. During his time in high school, he was named semifinalist for the Presidential Scholars Program as well as a National Merit Scholar and AP National Scholar. Andrew was part of the International Baccalaureate program and received his diploma upon graduation from high school. A long-time pianist and occasional writer, Andrew has a variety of hobbies that include photography, astronomy, drawing, and filmmaking. He speaks Mandarin Chinese and Cantonese fluently and is currently studying Spanish.
