Sam Hartke

Biography: Sam joined the Advanced Polymer Research Lab in Fall 2013 as a freshman and McDermott Scholar at UT Dallas. She is working on the development and design of 3D neural arrays and nerve cuff electrodes made out of softening shape memory polymers working closely with graduate mentor Jonathan Reeder. She uses differential scanning calorimetry to measure changes in heat flow as materials move through thermal transitions near their glass transition or melting temperatures. She has helped develop processes to electroplate neural electronic devices and is working toward magnetically assisted shape shape memery polymer shape changes for neural probes.

Research Interests: Shape Memory Polymers, Flexible Electronics, 3D Electronics
