Biography: Vedika joined the Advanced Polymer Research Lab as a freshman and McDermott Scholar in Fall 2013. She is exploring the thermomechanics of shape memory polymers under accelerated aging conditions. The goal of her work is to determine stability of polymer and metallic-polymer interfaces in biological conditions. She is studying the effects of degradable and non-degradable thiol-ene/acrylate systems in NaOH and phosphate buffered saline at 85C. She is using differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis to determine mass loss and thermal transitions in polymer samples.
